Chapter 4: Royalty and Rebellion.
The next morning they found an open field to practice in.
Lyric admired the pendant that Kali had given him. It had a kind of beauty in its simplicity. A small ruby at the center of a disk with symbols representing the various elements surrounding it. She called it a "Matrix Former." It was supposed to help out starting mages with molding their raw mana into simple spells.
"Ok, so with the amulet all you have to do is connect with it through some means, give it a simple image or intent, and let the mana flow through it and it should handle it from there." Kali instructed like a school teacher. She ha

Chapter 3: Music and Magic
Night had fallen and the moon was full. Kali was flying over the quiet forest on her broom, looking like, much to her chagrin, a stereotypical witch. She had been plopped unceremoniously into the woods with no idea of where to go or what to do, so she decided to go looking for the only person she knew at the moment. As she flew and searched for a few hours, she contemplated.
What was that place we were in before the Light whisked us away? It was beautiful and strange, much the opposite of this new land. She knew this forest and this sky were not a part of that colorful place. She couldn't put her figure on w

Chapter 2: Shells and Souls
The light enveloped the bard and he braced himself for what pain may come. After a moment, he realized that the only sensation he was feeling was one of being pulled in all directions. Slowly, he opened his eyes to the brilliance around him.
In the light flashed a dozen faces. Most normal seeming if diverse, people from various places and heritages. A few however, stood out in their strangeness. A woman with flames for hair, a dog made of metal of all things, a young person with traits of either a demon or an insect or something. All of them, normal or strange, flew by in a blink, except the last.
A young man

Chapter 1: Darkness and Light
Tumbling through the void, she gasped for air that didn't exist.
The shock of suddenly being ripped from existence caused her to let out a short scream, a scream that was torn from her lungs by the hungry nothingness.
Now without breath, spinning and flipping through non-existence, panic started to race through the young mage's mind.
Her bag! An experienced adventurer is always prepared, even for the oddest circumstances. Fighting the nausea of her body trying to tell her that every direction was both up and yet not, Kali pushed aside the panic by focusing on the simple goal of rummaging hurriedly throug

They were driving around randomly again. Cael wanted to avoid the spider-cams as much as possible while they talked, which Rowan found strange. She asked, "Why do you want to avoid the cameras? Don't you work for the people watching them?"
"I think I have been lied to," he responded. "I was told that I was to bring in an insane mass murderer, not a desperate individual." He took another random right. How he never got lost doing so was beyond Rowan. "I want to find answers and I can't do that safely if Minos is watching."
Rowan turned her attention back to Ethan. He was in the back seat with her, leaning against her as if he would fall other
Ethan was confused. Why was Rowan here? Who was the man she was with? Why are they at the food court of the local mall? Why hadn't they moved from near the entrance for over an hour?
If it is a trap, it is either a very poor one or a very, very devious one. Thought Hannah.
"What makes you say that?" Whispered Ethan as he pretended to take another sip from cup that wasn't there. He had used his illusions to make it, steaming coffee and all.
There are no noticeable officers or agents or anything of the like, they aren't actually trying to stand out or so it seems, and they have no idea we are anywhere near here.
It was true, after they

Chapter Three: Internal Wars
He was wrapped in light. Artemis couldn't take her eyes off of him. Not out of some infatuation, though he was hansom, or just because it was her job to keep him from harming her boss, but because he made her uneasy and this was not a feeling she got very often.
What was worst was she couldn't put her finger on just quite why. He was trained in martial arts but was nowhere near her level. He had some control over gravity but wasn't quick enough to stop her from putting a round or three into his head, not yet. He was without allies in Minos's o
